Decoupling of electricity demand and associated CO2 emissions
Since 1990, the global global CO2 intensity from electricity generation has remained stable.Until the beginning of 2010, the growth of CO2 emissions from electricity generation followed the growth in demand for electricity.However, there has been a decoupling in recent years: demand for electricity continues to increase, but emissions from power generation have begun to decline, a sign of the positive impact of renewable energy.
